Some of the Sub Station
work that Members of IBEW
196 have done.  IBEW 196
does the concrete footers
and sub grade to the
overhead bus.  We have a
complete list of contractors
at the hall to help with your
needs.
Aldridge Drilling installs
large foundation for
transmission towers using
IBEW 196 members. They
install these in solid rock to
all sand.  IBEW 196
members have been
installing transmission
foundations since 1940.
Members of IBEW 196 working
on a Wind Farm installing cable.
Here you see them running the
trencher and making sure the
cable is installed correctly.  High
Voltage cable installing is much
more that just running
equipment.  IBEW 196 trains
their members in safety and the
how to make sure you get the
years of service you expect out
of your cable installation.
IBEW 196 Members working on a
multi-duct package.  Our
members are trained in pipe
bending and installation as well
as wire pulling.  If you need a list
of contractors to do this work on
small or large projects just call
our office.
IBEW 196 had CJ King & Don
Woolridge at the union hall to
teach new stewards how to
represent the Union on the job.
We thank everyone for coming.

The members, officers and staff of Local 196 would like to welcome you to our website.

We are proud of our history and proud of our previous generations of I.B.E.W. Lineman,
Operators, Groundsman Helpers and Government workers who passed on their
knowledge and made sacrifices to make us stronger today.

Over one hundred years ago, in 1891, ten men met above Stolley's Dance Hall in St.
Louis in hopes of bringing a better life to those in the electrical trade.  Then,
apprenticeship training was unheard of and safety consisted of trial and error.  Those
ten men then became the founders of the National Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
(N.B.E.W.), which later became the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
(I.B.E.W.) in 1899 when jurisdiction extended to include Canada.

We are always interested in hearing from people that are in need of help at work.  If you
work for a City, Contractor, or other company that is having trouble with your boss and
need help just call.  We have over 20 contracts that we deal with to help give workers a
voice in the condition of there employment and to make sure they do not have to stand
on their own in times of trouble.  We have years of experience dealing with your boss
for you.
